Who were Besouro, Traira and Valdemar?
Besouro Manganga was a legendary capoeirista from Santo Amaro in the early 20th century, who was believed to have supernatural powers. Mestre Waldemar was a popular master in Bahia from the 1940's onwards and Mestre Traira was one of his students.

Maracangalha

Maracangalha was a famous place in Bahia in the time of Besouro Manganga and mestres Pastinha, Bimba etc. In songs it can be used to mean a place where fighting happens, i.e. that you need to pay attention in the capoeira roda.
